Ricky had retired from his football career and become a coach at Territory Thunder Football Club (NEAFL) from 2011-2015. He is also the current head coach of St Mary’s Football Club (NTFL).  St Mary’s have won 4 of the last 5 premierships since introducing technology into their football program. Each year, Ricky would spend one week a year upskilling himself at an professional AFL club. In a one-week session at the Gold Coast Suns Football Club, he noticed how a large majority of their coaching is performed with video analysis and what a useful tool it is. The video doesn’t lie and is perfect for explaining to a player or group what they are doing well and what areas they can improve on.

After Ricky’s experience at the Gold Coast Suns, he was determined this was the coaching tool of the future. By carrying out a thorough research, he found that the video analysis software available was too expensive and you were required to be very technical-minded to use them. Everything was aimed at professional coaches at prices only the pros could afford. We needed a video coaching tool at the right budget.

Ricky decided to ring Carl about his idea of developing one. Carl has worked as a computer programmer for 30 years for large international companies including Deutsche Bank. The two thought it was a wonderful idea.

They put their heads together and designed and built a basic and affordable video analysis software program aimed at coaches who wanted to take their coaching and team to the next level.

SportsClipMaker is a product Carl and Ricky are very proud of with endless hours of hard work. SportsClipMaker has been tested at grass roots level with magnificent result. With SportsClipMaker, you don’t need million-dollar budget or an IT degree to coach like the professionals.
